Cochecho Arts Festival

The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce wanted a better way to communicate with the public about their long-running summer festival. We created this website for them. This is a good example of a template-based design with custom programming.

We built the site so that it would be easy for us to add news articles, images, update the schedule and add artists. We maintain the site for them, so they send us an email with the information they need changed and we take care of it for them.

Built into the site is a calendar module that we created that uses XML in the back and AJAX to transfer the data to the user. What this means is that the user has a clean, seamless experience when viewing the calendar. Only certain pieces of the page refresh while the user is using the calendar, rather than the whole page refreshing. This heightens the user's experience and presents a more professional appearance.

We also placed an "image slider" module on the site that allows a user to scroll through a list of images and click on a thumbnail to see a larger view. This gave us an easy way to show images of the festival on the home page.
